Refurbishment of the Vancouver SkyTrain

Refurbishment of the Vancouver SkyTrain

With a total track length of 68.8 kilometres, SkyTrain, operated by Translink, was the world’s longest automatic transport system for many years, until it was overtaken in 2011 by the Dubai Metro. In 2013, refurbishment work began on older models of the SkyTrain’s Mark I rolling stock with a view to extending its intended life span by a further fifteen years (up to 2026). The obsolete battery chargers were replaced with compact, reliable units (750VDC, IP65) produced by APS. In the process, the electrical and mechanical interfaces were designed to make replacements possible within just a few minutes. For more information on the technical specifications click here.
