APS to modernize the RATP MI84 fleet in Paris

Good news from Paris: APS electronic AG wins the contract to modernise the RATP MI84 fleet.

The day’s best news for APS electronic AG is from Paris. APS, in co-operation with KB Powertech, has been commissioned to produce 124 inverters by Alstom, the world’s leading maker of integrated transport systems for the modernization of the RATP MI84 fleet in Paris. RATP transports some three billion passengers per annum in the Greater Paris area. Beyond the Île-de-France, RATP is active through its subsidiary RATP Développement in more than 30 French cities and départements and twelve other countries – including India, The Philippines, Finland, Botswana and South Korea.

The on-board converters by APS electronic AG will be installed in Île-de-France, however. To be more precise: on the RER A line, one of the busiest rail lines in Europe. RER A connects Marne La Vallée in the east with St. Germain-en-Laye in the west, linking Disneyland Paris with the erstwhile residence of the Sun King, Louis XIV.

The inverters, designed for 15000 VDC input voltage and two 3x400 VAC for 14 kvA outputs each will be fitted in 31 four-part MI84 trains. Each output will power an air conditioning system. Eight pre-series devices will be delivered this year, followed by the series devices in 2019. That means APS engineers are directly involved in the modernisation of one of France’s best mobility systems and helping to make life more comfortable for Paris commuters.
